Those thoughts of why Waffle House is such a mystical place is exactly how the Waffle House Fight Club got started. Part of Waffle House’s appeal may be fighting, but those fights are unscheduled. That leans into the chaotic feel of the common Waffle House, but not everyone has time to go to the location over and over in hopes of seeing one.
So some common Waffle House goers, Waffle House entrepreneurs, had a bright idea: schedule the fights. However, the idea initially flopped. Scheduled fights get rid of the chaos; the preparation time makes it basically just professional boxing. And that is a slippery slope.
The Waffle House Fight Club leaders could easily start adding rules and further destroy the spirit of Waffle House. But luckily, starting a fight is easy. Especially at Waffle House. So scheduled fighwts could still occur, allowing viewers to seek them out, without destroying everything Waffle House is known for. And Waffle House Fight Club leaders, especially after their initial idea flopped, took full advantage of that.
And that was how the Waffle House Fight Club as we know it was started. Fliers for fight times passed around by regular Waffle House goers. Specific named fighters known for their dirty tricks. Unprepared opponents. The Waffle House spirit.
