Edited by Ander Monson and featuring 45 writers and photographs, Significant Objects 2026 Season One is 240 pages of fiction, essays, poems, and photographs of 45 different objects and the stories associated with them. Printed in full color and perfect bound, this is a beautiful object and a showcase of the ways in which we love and make meaning of, from, and with objects.
The print book, Significant Objects 2026 Season One, is the result of an ongoing literary and publishing experiment in narrative and value. We ask: what value does narrative add to an object? 45 writers each purchased or otherwise acquired objects secondhand for less than $5, wrote about them, and published the stories as auction listings on ebay. The winner of the auction received the object and a limited edition of the story. These 45 stories, poems, and essays explore the hidden lives of objects and their provenances.
