HELLO is a musique concrète piece that could hardly be more self-explanatory. The source material dates from more than 20 years ago, when I happened to have some time and a Sony Walkman with a contact mike on my hands. The idea was obvious, but I had to wait two decades until the easy availability of digital mixing and splicing made it possible to put the piece together the way I wanted it.

As a sociological aside, I would like to mention that out of the more than one hundred people I telephoned at random from the white pages that night, claiming afterwards to have dialed a wrong number, only two had hostile reactions.

As an esthetic aside, I would like to thank those two people for providing the ending to the piece.
