TENNIS 2126 David Sheskin
|
The year is 2126 and the "World of Tennis" is now the "Universe of Tennis." Only the venerable Wimbledon remains among the original Grand Slam events—the latter now consisting of four additional classics, some of which are light years apart. Of course, in view of its wider boundaries the new world of tennis is inhabited by an assortment of life forms that make the game more competitive than ever. Whoever or whatever a human being might be facing on the other side of the net can range from a fire breathing dragon that uses heat to distort the shape of the ball (or when predisposed even melt it) to some sort of multi limbed critter who possesses impeccable ball control and an infinite variety of spins. To further complicate matters, some of the rackets and balls have evolved into a potpourri of life forms. Without further ado, here are some action shots of tennis in the 22nd century.
