Riisager's manuscript that this poem comes from, For Qualia, tries to use words to experientialize the nonfactual elements of things (i.e. their qualia, which is to say, how things feel and seem as perceived, not just described). "Intensive formula" is an incantatory, associative piece that incorporates language (both advertising speak and the chemical components) of cleansing products to conjure up humans thinks about the power of formulas and formulaic language.  Riisager also draws on Frank Jackson's philosophical thought experiment to prove the existence of qualia: the (so-called) Knowledge Argument. Jackson imagined a distinguished woman scientist, Mary, trapped in a black-and-white room. Mary specializes in the neurophysiology of vision, but she can't experience it. What will she learn when she sees the color red?
