A HOME KITCHEN EXAMPLE OF A LINK CHART WHERE AVERAGE TRAVEL FREQUENCIES ARE SHOWN PER MEAL

Barry H. Kantowitz and Robert D. Sorkin, Human Factors: Understanding People-System Relationships, John Wiley & Sons, 1983

Link analysis is a technique performed to assist in the redesign of display, other equipment, or people arrangements. A link is an arc or connection between a pair of elements (i.e., people or machines) that denotes a specified relationship. Common relationships used in human factors are (1) the relative frequence of an operator going from one element to another, (2) communication frequencies), or (3) relative importance. The link value is a numeric quantity associated with that relationship.
