__ These poems, which serve as part of a larger collection, consider the sites of intersection between language, myth, and corporeal deviance. In particular, "the beauty of the chorus" reimagines an idea (or perhaps an image) from Saidiya Hartman's Wayward Lives, Beautiful Experiments alongside a line from Rickey Laurentiis's "Black Iris" in Boy with Thorn via a spatiality conceived in M. NourbeSe Philip's Zong!. It is my hope that such constellations will gestate questions, as in—who labors & in what context? |
