CIRCUITS Kevin Manley |
__ A few worlds collided to make "Circuits" happen. I had recently completed a class in theatrical light design, which still had me thinking about connections and systems. At home, my dad was struggling with the loss of his parents, so he would often share stories about Papaw. As Dad's words seeped into my writing, the final strand came from my nonfiction professor, Dr. Monica Barron. She encouraged our class to tackle a difficult essay with a new approach to form, and, at her recommendation, the last thing I read before starting "Circuits" was Ander Monson's "Outline Toward a Theory of the Mine Versus the Mind and the Harvard Outline"--a final connection to complete the circuit.
