SCHEMATIC REPRESENTATION OF A THICK ACCRETION DISC AROUND A GIANT BLACK HOLE WITH THE FORMATION OF JETS

Gamma-ray photons emitted by the internal face of the disc create electron-positron pairs in the vacuum, which multiply by cascading and accelerate the jets to a velocity approaching that of light.
