As the daughter of a linguist and a philosopher it comes as no surprise that I am fascinated by language. I love the sound and the meaning, the form and the significance. Language, after all, serves both as a tool for organization, and a means of seduction. As a sound artist I work frequently with recorded text and human vocalizations, mixing them freely with my other field recordings.

CORDELIA TO LEAR is a new work. My interest here is with the building blocks of speech, which serve as analogues for the simple sine and sawtooth waves which form the bedrock of electronic music and which are used frequently in the composition. As Lear's kingdom is fractured by declarations of love and allegiance, so the composition is punctuated by human utterances—highly fractured and disjunctive...of the word "love".
