Timothy T. Mar, Face Reading: the Chinese Art of Physiognomy, Signet, 1974

There are several schools of Chinese physiognomy, each with a different system of position. One school divides the face into 111 positions, another into 130 positions. The 100-position system I have adopted here is by far the most widely accepted. It is time-tested and accurate. In addition, to simplify the system, wherever expedient I have avoided the use of ancient, technical names, heavy with literary allusions, which would in many instances bewilder the reader and in other instances prove untranslatable.

To the face reader, the most important aspect of physiognomy is its practicality.
