PERSPECTIVE

Kathleen Mitchell-Askar

blue coffee pot
white flecked
two crosses above
a halved melon
on red checked cloth

lit and open window
another moon to

girl in pink dress
who runs in and out of frame
man in metal folding chair
gun across his lap
in front of low clay houses

walk away from it all
exponential shrinking
of the village
at the edge
hold your hand over it
your whole hand the village

I have been interested lately in time and space relationships—the relativity of size and speed, the expansion and contraction dependent on location and particular view. This work explores such symbiosis.
