ESTIMATED FAILURE ORIGINS IN FAILURE PROPAGATION NETWORK OF PUMP SYSTEMS

Operators in plant control rooms must take corrective action when abnormalities show up on an annunciator. In other words, they are required to remove the failure origin, because the spread of its influence can lead to incalculable damage to the plant.

However, abnormalities in the plant are often detected at devices which have been influenced by the failure rather than at the failed device itself, therefore; the number of annunciators which become activated increases exponentially.
